Wow, I've really been slacking here! Anywhere, here's some stuff I had for sale at the Bazaar. Here are a couple posters:

These probably all look familiar, as I've posted earlier versions of most of them before. With any luck, they'll be for sale on my Etsy site in the near future. Also, I'm working on redesigning my site and moving it to a new host, so things may get a little wonky, but hold tight 'cause it should hopefully all be for the better.

More of a test than anything, I wanted to try out making a robot out of wood. Here he is before I painted him:

And here he is afterward:

I didn't really have a pattern design in mind for him 'cause I just wanted to get the paint on there to see how it would look, so I kinda rushed to get that done and didn't sand him down enough. But he has pants, apparently! I think in the future it'd be cool to experiment with staining parts of the wood because I liked the natural look of him. Oh, and and to make him with moving parts. That's be cool, too.

So I realize I haven't updated in a while, which I partially attribute to having back to back colds that have essentially made me sick since the first week of January, and the rest I attribute to being busy and tired. But rest assured I am working on stuff that will hopefully come to fruition sooner rather than later. Preferably sooner, because I know once baseball season kicks into gear I will most likely become incredibly inefficient and less productive than usual. I hope that I'm exaggerating, but only time will tell.

Last year's AHB was awesome, and I can guarantee this year's will be too! I haven't updated in a bit, so here's a double dose of what I've been working on lately. This first one's something that's been floating around in my head for a while.

This one was influenced by a full moon a couple weeks ago. I saw a plane flying on a course that would take it directly in front of the aforementioned moon. I was watching in anticipation, thinking "this is going to be awesome." It totally was.

A Shocking Situation

This is a little bit of an experiment, which hopefully will work in your browser (it should). I don't know how to get it to work on Blogger, so the picture links to my site. Basically, I just thought that it would be cool to use the CSS overflow property to present a sequential image so you can only have a portion of the image in view, while hiding the rest. Then your eye can't wander as it can on a page, and spoil the ending. I hope you like it!

Anybody ever tell you the story of Teddy Wrecks? No? Well he was the first, and as far as I know the only, dinosaur to play baseball. He had dreams of playing in the big leagues, but sadly failed to make the cut and wound up playing single A ball for most of his career. Or so I'm told. I got this old card of his and had to piece together what little information there is on him from fifth, sixth, and seventh hand stories, so there's no saying how reliable they are. None of the stories really match up with one another, but the weird part is that they all end the same. Apparently back in June of '56 he just vanished. Nobody knows the where's, why's, and what's about it, but that's the end of the story as far as anyone knows...

Here'a another card I just found. It's not as in good of shape as the first, and the color's a little off, but I thought I'd share it in case anyone wanted to see.

I don't really remember how to do it, but I remember there was some way you could take multiple exposures with a Polaroid Joycam. Seeing as how Polaroid isn't going to make film anymore, I'll probably never get to tinker with it again, but it was a cool little trick. So this picture's in honor of instant film and the Joycam!

So way back in November I had planned on submitting a piece for a group show about Santa. But then I got thwacked with loads of work and responsibility, so I never got around to doing it. But things are a little calmer now, so I was able to make a Santa doodle! My original idea had to do with the commercialization of Christmas, but I think Santa dancin' for snowpeople makes the same point, so there you go!

Do groups of bears have a name? You know, like how there's a pack of wolves, a murder of crows, a gaggle of geese, or a sixer of beer? I want to call it a bushell of bears. A "bearshell". But I'm probably just foolish and it's likely something simple, like a family of bears. Or a bearocracy.

Wooo!! More stuffed animals. Well, stuffed bears this time around. I plan on acruing animals, and making more accessories and doodads over the next dozen or so weeks. I'll try to post pictures as I make them. I also plan selling some of these guys/things through my website, so I'll be sure to note when I get things up there. In the meantime, enjoy!

So I got back from Japan about 1.5 weeks ago and I had planned to do some drawing while there, but I was so busy I never really had the chance. I think that's a good thing. The only time I really had to draw was when I woke up before my friend Billy and needed to kill some time. So this drawing here is looking out our hotel room window in Kyoto. All in all, Japan was very inspiring for me. There are cute characters everywhere! This green guy here is pretty much Japan's effect on me. I've got some more characters that I'm still doodling, so I'll post those soon.
